Melana Nelk and Denis Cucu celebrated their triumphs at the Adriatic Pearl on Day3

Estonia’s European U17 silver medallist Melana Nelk and Romania’s Denis Cucu were among the winners in the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament in Budva on Day3.

Kazakhstan’s Madira Zhumakhan won the first female bout of the entire Adriatic Pearl Tournament, she defeated Germany’s European Championships competitor Sophie Staschewski at the women’s 48kg.

Sweden arrived to Budva with a developing team and their best female hope in the youth age group, Medina Zaman shined against Kazakhstan’s Zhanel Imantayeva. Her teammate, Paradisia Smesem also performed well but Kazakhstan’s Kseniya Svechkarova was still too experienced for her.

Kazakhstan’s Ramina Makhanova had the technical skills to beat Ukraine’s Anna Koloturska in one of the best contests of the day, while hear teammate, Altyngul Aimukhan was also too smart for another Ukrainian, Iryna Onopriyenko.  

Croatia’s Agata Stajcer competed in several international tournaments in the recent years and despite her young age, she had the routine to beat Kazakhstan’s Zhainagul Sabyrzhan in an excellent female contest at the 65kg.

Estonia has promising women’s boxing life, their European U17 Championships silver medallist 16-year-old Melana Nelk proved her progress once again in a great female bout against Lana Skupnjak of Croatia at the 75kg.

Kazakhstan’s technician duo at the men’s 50kg, Nurkhan Kumarbekov and Adil Askanbay both shined in the third day of boxing, beating Serbia’s Pavle Popovic and Bulgaria’s Nikolay Karaboykov in their meetings.

The men’s 75kg weight class is super strong in the Adriatic Pearl, Georgia’s Goga Bregvadze, Cuba’s Raul Daniel Castillo, Ukraine’s Tymur Karaivan, and Poland’s Borys Plachta all advanced to the next stage of boxing after close victories.

Romania’s Denis Cucu impressed in the recent Dracula Open Tournament on home soil but he decided to compete also in the Adriatic Pearl where he opened with a success against Ukraine’s Volodymyr Derkach at the +90kg.
