Hungary claimed four gold medals in the final day of the Bocskai Memorial but Traore and Burton also made remarkable victories
The host Hungarians claimed four gold medals at the 70th Bocskai Memorial Tournament in Debrecen today evening while France’s Makan Traore and England’s Abdul-Rahman Burton proved their strengths.
France’s Hugo Grau defeated Slovakia’s Juraj Bona at the men’s 65kg weight class which was the opening title contest of the day.
Hungary’s Vladislava Kukhta controlled the first round against her teammate, Szabina Szucs. The younger Kukhta was energetic and she reduced the fighting distance successfully, making a revenge for her previous loss.
Wales’ CWG bronze medallist Owain Harris-Allan was the favourite against Azerbaijan’s Amin Mammadzada and he looked punctual in all of the exchanges to win the title of the men’s 60kg.
Hungary’s European U23 Champion Zsofia Szira dominated her +80kg final over her returning compatriot Szimonetta Pallas in the next title contest.
England’s Kyle Shaw-Tullin was more active than Hungary’s Romeo Buza in the 75kg final and he claimed his nation’s fifth gold medal at the Bocskai. The next English, the European U23 silver medallist Abdul-Rahman Burton knocked down Hungary’s Gabor Virban and he achieved the next title at the 55kg.
Spain’s Marta Lopez was patient in the exchanges and she surprised Hungary’s European U23 silver medallist Lilla Szeleczki with her strategy. Lopez controlled the second and third rounds well enough to earn Spain’s second gold medal at the Bocskai.
Hungary’s Istvan Szaka knocked down Australia’s Dodd Shipsey in the first round which determined his clear success in this spectacular 50kg final. France’s Olympian Paris Makan Traore switched his tempo in time and he knocked out Hungary’s Dominik Enekes in the third round of the 70kg final.
Hungary’s Paris Olympics quarter-finalist Luca Hamori was patient and confident against Slovakia’s Tamara Kubalova and she claimed the last title of the Bocskai Memorial.
