Albania, Austria, England, Moldova and North Macedonia shared the titles at the 54th Golden Gong Tournament

Albania, Austria, England, Moldova and host North Macedonia bagged gold medals at the 54^th Golden Gong Tournament over the weekend.

The venues of the Golden Gong Tournament were the Boris Trajkovski Sports Hall and the Sports Hall Kumanovo in this new edition. The Golden Gong Tournament was launched in Yugoslavia still in 1969.

The Albanian brothers, Kristian Koco and Emanuel Koco marched to the finals of the 55kg weight class but they did not have a friendly meeting. Kristian controlled the first and second round and his brother abandoned the final fight in the third.

North Macedonia’s best boxer, Alen Rustemovski worked hard from the first seconds to beat England’s 19-year-old Joseph Turner in their final while another local boy, Adrian Rustemovski won the Group B at the busy 60kg.

England’s Rio Gordon proved his impressive progress in this event when he eliminated Sweden’s No.1 Kevin Scott in the semi-finals but he was still able to increase his rhythm in the final against North Macedonia’s Naum Stojanovski to take the title. His compatriots as Amardeep Singh (65kg) and Divine Omojor (85kg) also earned gold medals in the Golden Gong.

The Austrians sent their best talents to the Golden Gong Tournament and among them Emin Yildiz not only advanced to the final of the 70kg weight category but he triumphed over Moldova’s Anton Lehcun.

The next Austrian boxer in action was their European U22 Championships quarter-finalist, Lucky Aimufua who used his longer hands well enough to beat North Macedonia’s Nikola Kiskovski at the 80kg final.

Moldova’s Davron Bozorov used up all of his experiences to beat Turkey’s Alperen Yilmaz at the 75kg final while his teammate, Andrei Zaplitnii bagged the country’s second title following his success over Croatia’s Patrik Plantic at the 90kg.
