Brazil selected 14 medal hopes for the World Boxing Championships

Brazil will send seven female and seven male boxers to the upcoming World Boxing Championships which will be starting in Liverpool on September 4.

Mr. Paco Garcia is the new head coach of the squad while the former one, Mr. Mateus Alves will be the team leader of the Brazilian delegation in Liverpool.

Carolina Almeida was a surprise bronze medallist at the 2022 Women’s World Boxing Championships and the Paris Olympian is in still top shape.

Tatiana Chagas was patient, she needed several years to join the elite national team after her national team but she qualified also for the Paris Olympics.

Jucielen Romeu is one of the most experienced female national team members and the two-time Olympian is aiming for new highlights in Liverpool.

Rebeca Lima Santos replaced the Olympic medallist Beatriz Ferreira at the women’s 60kg but the former Youth World bronze medallist is another top boxer in this weight.

Barbara Dos Santos put herself into the spotlight when she defeated the Olympic Champion Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey and she has medal chances at the women’s 70kg.

Viviane Pereira is the most progressed female national team member, the 75kg boxer won international tournaments during her preparation.

The Paris Olympian Michael Douglas Trindade and Brazil’s No.1, Luiz Gabriel Oliveira will compete in the 55kg and 60kg with medal expectations.

Two progressed boxers will cover the 65kg and the 70kg, Yuri Falcao Reis and Kaian Reis who amazed in the recent two international events.

The World medallist Wanderley Pereira (80kg) has also strong international routine and medal expectations in Liverpool.

Isaias Filho replaced Keno Machado in the squad and the 23-year-old talent competed well in the preparation events while Joel Silva will participate at the super heavyweight.
