Dovlet Yslamov earned Turkmenistan’s first Asian Elite medal since 2019

Turkmenistan earned its first medal after the 2019 edition during the sixth competition day at the Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Mongolia’s capital city, in Ulaanbaatar. Their Nursahat Pazzyyev achieved that medal seven years ago and Dovlet Yslamov is their next boxer who reached the semi-finals today.

Chinese Taipei’s Chen Nien Chin managed her path to the semi-finals at the women’s 65kg after beating Thailand’s Porntip Buapa. India’s Ankushita Boro, DPR Korea’s Hwang Hyo Sun and China’s Li Shu also are medallists in this category.

India’s former Asian Youth Champion Vishvanath Suresh caused one of the surprises of the day when he eliminated Kazakhstan’s two-time World Champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay. Another strong boxer at the men’s 50kg, Japan’s Daichi Iwai was too strong for DPR Korea’s Kim Tae Il.

China’s Youth World Champion Alimire Abudureyimu is one of the best female talents in the 2007 age group but she had to do her very best to beat South Korea’s Seon Su Jin at the 70kg. Her compatriot, another Youth World Champion, Bao Ziyi stopped Chinese Taipei’s Jhuo Yu Ting at the women’s 75kg.

Uzbekistan’s Aziza Zokirova progressed a lot this year and she stopped Japan’s Naoko Kasahara today. Kazakhstan’s former World Champion Valentina Khalzova also dominated her quarter-final in this 75kg, she stopped South Korea’s Seong Su Yeon.

Another Uzbek boxer, Abdurakhmon Makhmudjonov is a newcomer in the elite national team but had the strong performance to beat Jordan’s Asian Champion, Mohammad Adnan Abu Jajeh at the men’s 60kg.

Kazakhstan’s defending World Champion Aibek Oralbay faced his main rival, Uzbekistan’s Arman Makhanov already in the quarter-finals but he had the quicker footwork to win this final-level bout.

Turkmenistan’s athletic boxer, Dovlet Yslamov joined the elite national team only in 2025 but he was dominant against South Korea’s Ju Tae Ung which means that Turkmenistan returned on the medal table in an Asian Elite Championships after the 2019 edition.
