Huge international interest for the next Bornemissza Memorial Tournament
The next edition of the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament will be held in Eger, Hungary on May 19-25 and the interest is huge from the National Federations.
The upcoming Bornemissza Memorial will arrange for the U19, U17 and U15 boxers and for both genders in Hungary’s historic city.
The Bornemissza Memorial Tournament is one of the oldest European international competitions next to the Strandja Memorial, the Golden Gloves and the Bocskai Memorial.
Ukraine will send a huge delegation to the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament, their boxers will cover almost all of the weight categories in each age group in Eger.
Italy, France, Slovakia, Czechia and Poland will be competing with strong boxers in the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament. Italy registered record number of athletes to the competition and they have strong chance to get gold medals in the U17 and U19 age groups.
Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland will represent the Nordic region in Eger and they will use the event as a strong international preparation.
Two of the Baltic nations as Latvia and Estonia also registered to the competition after a break while the Netherlands will send their best talents to Hungary.
The competition was named after a Hungarian lieutenant, a national hero, Gergely Bornemissza who supported the successful defence of the Castle of Eger during the Ottoman Siege in 1552.
The 2011 and 2012 born boxers can participate in the U15 schoolboys and schoolgirls age group in the Bornemissza.
The 2009 and the 2010 age group for both genders will compete in the U17 junior age group in Eger.
The 2007 and 2008 born boxers will be eligible to attend in the U19 youth level of boxing in 20 different weight categories.
