Mr. Alexander Klemenko underlined the importance to host an U17 World Boxing Championships in 2026
The President of the Boxing Association of Montenegro, Mr. Alexander Klemenko underlined the importance to host the 1st U17 World Boxing Championships in 2026.
Mr. Alexander Klemenko sent his letter to the World Boxing President and the Board of Directors to include more events to the 2026 events’ calendar and requested to host the U17 World Boxing Championships in Montenegro.
The participation of such big event as the planned U17 World Championships, creates strong motivation for the young talents and encourage them to engage to the sport more actively and follow the lifestyle of boxing.
Mr. Klemenko’s key principle about the possible event is the international cooperation which creates new friendships, cultural exchanges and strengthening friendly relations between the participating nations.
The U17 World Boxing Championships would be able to identify the best boxers, the new champions and the best teams around the world. The sports development, the promotion of the event, the prestige and the better sport image are further key factors in this project.
The boxing city of Budva hosted Youth World Boxing Championships, European Women’s Boxing Championships, European Cup, European Youth Boxing Championships.
The Boxing Association of Montenegro hosted the recent European U15 Boxing Championships with a great success. The number of the participating countries was record-breaking 32 while 369 boxers competed for the medals in Budva.
Mr. Klemenko supported the participation of some National Federations which had financial issues to compete in the European U15 Championships.
Budva will host two main international competitions in the beginning of 2026, firstly the Adriatic Pearl Youth World Boxing Cup on March 2-12, secondly the Montenegro Elite Boxing Cup on March 13-23.
