Poland’s Olympics silver medallist Julia Szeremeta defended her throne at the Bocskai Memorial Tournament

The Polish girls amazed in the first part of the finals at the 69th edition of the Bocskai Memorial Tournament in Debrecen, Hungary today where the Olympic silver medallist Julia Szeremeta returned to the events with a title.

Poland’s Natalia Kuczewska was the favourite for the title at the women’s 51kg weight class and she accomplished her goal after beating her teammate, Angelika Krysztoforska while Barbara Marcinkowska (70kg) also succeeded in Debrecen today.

Poland’s Paris Olympics silver medallist Julia Szeremeta returned to the world of boxing at the Bocskai Memorial Tournament where she was a titleholder. The 22-year-old Polish girl defeated Hungary’s Szabina Szucs in the final one year ago and she repeated that performance once again, making a great comeback at the featherweight (57kg).

Poland’s heavyweight (+80kg) boxer, Agata Kaczmarska was too strong for all of her recent rivals in the international competitions. The 27-year-old Polish was smaller than Hungary’s European U22 silver medallist Reka Hoffmann but her speed decided the final contest.

Wales’ Milwyn Lloyd proved his impressive progress in the previous months and he had a good second round against Hungary’s National Champion Milan Petriman but the local rival’s finish was enough to beat him at the 65kg weight class.

Croatia’s Paris Olympian and European Games silver medallist Gabrijel Veocic was highly confident in the semi-finals of the men’s 80kg weight class against Hungary’s Pal Kovacs and he will now face another local opponent, the Olympian Akilov Pylyp for the gold medal.

Hungary’s duo such as Istvan Kreko (85kg) and the veteran Istvan Bernath, with 20 years of routine, won the last bouts of the third competition day in Debrecen and both boxers earned gold medals.
