Strong U17 and U19 athletes made the show at the Golden Girl on Day2
The U17 and the U19 boxers made the show at the 16th Golden Girl Box Cup in Boras, Sweden on Day2.
Spain’s European U15 Champion Adriana Munoz competes at the U17 level since January but she was not enough shape against England’s Star Birmingham in the first round. Following those nervous moments, she made a big U-turn from the second round and Munoz joined the finals of the event.
England’s Delilah Lambert delivered the next great performance when she defeated France’s Siham Chouni at the 52kg. Another English girl, Letitia McKee caused a surprise in this age group due to her success over the European U15 Champion Leona Anaman at the 54kg.
Ireland’s Saoirse Donnelly eliminated England’s Maryam Chniba in a tight semi-final at the 57kg and she will now meet her teammate for the gold medal, Ella Archbold, an experienced European Championships competitor.
Italy’s Miriam Amadori competed in the last European U17 Championships and she can still fight in this age group in 2026 as well. The Italian won the first and second rounds against England’s Valeria Selska and she is now a finalist in Boras, while Ruby Dos Santos (70kg) also impressed today.
Spain’s Andrea Buelga Garcia is new in the U19 age group but she had tournament victories in the U17 level and she worked well on Day1. The Spanish southpaw had a hard tactical job against England’s tall Tilly Haynes but she managed the pathway to the final of the 51kg and she will face for the title with Sienna Cox.
France’s new U19 talent in the national team, Nour Kapural Benyettou used her height advantage against Sweden’s Julia Karlsson Viden in all of the three rounds effectively and she can test herself against England’s Jessie Chambers at the 54kg.
England’s two-time European Junior competitor Lexie Walker was brilliant in the first competition day in Boras and the Wolverhampton-based boxer smashed Ireland’s Elma Barry within less than one round and she is the favourite also against Norway’s Vilde Nostdal at the U19 60kg.
