Umarov, Alshareef, Bezuhlyi and Chocholacek were the heroes at the Dracula Open on Day2
Another marathon program was held at the 5th edition of the Dracula Open Tournament in Ploiesti where the second competition day saw tough battles between several top nations.
Kazakhstan sent fantastic U17 boxers to the Dracula Open and their Nurassyl Galym (50kg), Alikhan Satybayev (50kg), Bekkhan Urazbay (54kg), Adilet Galiyev (54kg), Nurislam Ongalbek (57kg), Tamerlan Kaiyrzhan (57kg), Emir Mukhit (60kg) and Didar Sharapat (75kg) all impressed on Day2.
Uzbekistan’s Elshod Shokirjonov is one of the stars in the U17 age group in Ploiesti and he stopped Romania’s David Emanuel Badea in his opener at the 60kg while his teammate, Farkhodjon Bakhadirov (+80kg) has done the same quick success.
Uzbekistan’s next sensation, Samandarbek Umarov gave in everything against Kazakhstan’s Mansur Amantay in their 80kg quarter-final and he celebrated an emotional success in the bout of the day.
Palestine’s U17 hope, Atef Alshareef caused one of the surprises of the second competition day when he eliminated Ukraine’s Artem Lunov at the 60kg.
Brazil’s new U19 talent, Gustavo Silva opened his campaign with a success on Day and the South American had the next strong efforts to beat Moldova’s Damian Grisman in the Round of 16 at the 55kg weight category.
Bulgaria’s Yanko Iliev has strong plans for this year and he invested a lot of energy to beat Moldova’s Dan Butnari at the 55kg but Poland’s Adrian Drewnowski, and Romania’s Denis Aurel Alexandrescu also made great victories in this weight class.
Slovakia’s Sebastian Chocholacek has an amazing pedigree from the recent U17 and schoolboys championships and he joined the U19 age group with a clear triumph over Romania’s Marius Marcus Pantiru at the 65kg.
Hungary’s Istvan Czifra was European U17 Champion last December and he made an international debut among the U19 boxers in Ploiesti on Day2. He had good performance until the beginning of the third round and surprisingly he lost to Austria’s ex-Ukrainian Ivan Bezuhlyi at the 65kg preliminary.
