Usik and Santos knocked out their opponents in the semi-finals of the Portimao Box Cup

Spain’s Eduard Usik and Portugal’s Paulo Santos knocked out their opponents in the elite semi-finals of the Portimao Box Cup during the evening session.

Luxembourg’s Benik Melkumian is a very experienced elite boxer at the lightweight (60kg) who ruled the middle of the ring against Spain’s Alejandro Herrera and his stronger punches guaranteed his victory today.

Portugal’s Igor Lopes is member of the Barbosa Boxing Team who moved forward without any stoppage against Jack Doran in the next lightweight (60kg) semi-final and he was able to land enough shots to win their semi-final.

Portugal’s Armenio Reis competed in several main international events and his high number of bouts paid off against Afonso Lima and he advanced to the final of the elite featherweight (57kg) where he will now meet for the title Spain’s Eduard Usik who knocked out Elford MacKenzie.

Paulo Santos delivered the next KO success in the evening session, he knocked out Jamie Long of Ireland at the welterweight (67kg) semi-final.

Ireland’s Danny Lucey bowed out Spain’s Daniel Galici therefore he can prepare to his final against Michael Evans at the light welterweight (63.5kg).

Portugal’s Guilherme Ferreira used an aggressive style of boxing against Spencer Poole and he tried to reduce the fighting distance against the taller opponent from the first seconds. Poole speeded up his process in the second and third rounds therefore he will now face for the title of the light middleweight (71kg) with Portugal’s Hugo Costa. 

France’s Boubacar Diallo returned to the events and he overcame his Swiss opponent, Kamel Belkhadra in the semi-final of the light heavyweight (80kg). The French boxer was dominant in the third round therefore the referee stopped their contest and he will face for the gold Lewis Scutt.
